Our values guide our choices and decisions, shape our beliefs and behaviours. When we are clear on our values, it is so much easier to understand the source of stress and tension at work and life and work to resolve them.

Our values are what gives us the most satisfaction in whatever we are doing. When your work or relationships don’t align with your values, you experience a values clash. These are likely to leave you feeling conflicted, dissatisfied, or unhappy.

I have found, in many of my coaching sessions, values illuminate goals. By this I mean, when the goal is in line with your personal values, it lights up and emits an almost gravitational pull. You are strongly motivated to act.

If you have found yourself dissatisfied at work, perhaps considering a career change, before you do anything, get clear on your values. The solution may be simpler than you think. Here's the worksheet I use to help fuel the coaching conversation to identify values and their meaning. I hope you find it useful.
