Outcomes first

You've probably attended a multitude of conferences and meetings that are filled with great talk and good intention but very little happens post meeting to deliver on the outcomes.

As an agent for change, I structure your meeting to ensure everyone makes a real contribution, all issues are aired in a safe environment and there is forward momentum towards the goal. All while having a healthy dose of fun.

My approach.

  1. Define the goal - the first step is to get clarity on your desired outcome and set specific objectives.

  2. Understand the context - the best way to do this is to meet with a cross section of members of the group to gather information.

  3. Design the session - I will provide feedback on what I have learnt and create an initial design for review and approval. Once we have agreed the design an agenda is written. This, along with any pre-work, will be shared with the group.

  4. Deliver the session

  5. Follow up - here I check in to ensure that members are following through. With complex or major decision-making workshops you may want to book a follow up group meeting to discuss progress, overcome any barriers as well as share group achievements.

As facilitator my role is to:

  • Ensure engagement and participation by all members

  • Keep the group focused

  • Maintain high energy and a positive environment

  • Provide on the spot training where required

  • Help the group stick to the ground rules

  • Manage conflict

  • Keep track of the discussion

  • Ensure decisions are made and detailed action plans agreed
