Activating and embedding learning

So, let's be honest. An email invitation that drops into the trainee's inbox, is hardly the best way to announce your training initiative.

Introducing the learning pathway - designed to turn your workshop into an event.

We'll work together to make sure all stakeholders are informed, trainees are properly prepared and excited for the upcoming event and, managers, our secret weapon, are ready and willing to support their people before, during and after.

Learning pathway by Agent for Change

The role of the manager is a central factor in activating change. The best results will be achieved when participants have their managers invested in their success.

A simple way to accomplish this is for managers to speak directly to their team member prior to training to explain what they will learn in training, why it’s important, expectations for actions during and after the training event, and the kind of support they will provide throughout the process.

Agent for Change provides a course overview and learning outcomes to enable this conversation.

Even more critical is the role of the manager after the training. They are the key people to reinforce newly learned knowledge and skills. The degree to which reinforcement and coaching happens directly correlates to improved performance and positive outcomes.

So Managers, your team needs you. Schedule time to meet with your team members to check if they valued the training ; what they learnt, how they plan to apply their new skills and how you can provide support.

Agent for Change will provide the participants feedback and the goals they set as a result of attending the training to review during this meeting.

The activities that generate the most learning effectiveness are follow-up activities including on-the-job implementation that happens after the training event.

Other manager activities to enable transformation:

  • Input to a detailed action plan to apply learning

  • Weekly or fortnightly catch-ups to discuss progress towards development goals

  • Mentoring programme

  • Role plays

  • Provide opportunities to stretch their performance

  • Use mistakes as learning opportunities

  • Feedback - let them know what they are doing well so they will keep it up

NB - Manager training is available to implement best practice in these areas.

If manager involvement is not an option one to one coaching or mentoring is available from Agent For Change
